A new website has just launched for tiny-treats today – a bomboniere/favor company in London. 

The website uses  CSS font-face for the site title which is also seen in printed materials such as the poster below. The CMS is wordpress and this is a bespoke theme carefully hand coded for tiny-treats.

The photography used focuses in highlighting the gorgeous details of each product, allowing for space to breath and shine.

QR codes are generally used to easily and conveniently share phone apps, websites and Facebook pages. Anyone can generate their own QR code containing any information: plain text, urls, contact details, image sharing etc. So it’s up to you how you use it. It can be fun.

Tin Eye: Reverse Image Search. It is what is says on the tin.
You can submit any image to TinEye to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions.

This is a perfect tool for when using imagery from a stock photography website as it will let you know if it’s used by anyone else, how many people as well as supply you with links to their locations.

Whilst designing a website, I find it useful to keep in mind some HTML special characters and glyphs such as arrows and any other symbols. (▶ → ☞ )
These special characters could save a lot of time to designers who so far have been designing little arrows to go with Read more ▶ and by extension save some time for the programmers who have to then programm the little arrow images to the Read more links.

Prior launching, every website should be checked for markup validation.
W3C checks the markup validity of Web documents in HTML, XHTML, SMIL, MathML, etc. If you wish to validate specific content such as RSS/Atom feeds or CSS stylesheets, MobileOK content, or to find broken links, there are other validators and tools available.

IE Net Renderer allows you to check how a website is rendered by Internet Explorer 9, 8, 7, 6 or 5.5. This is perfect for anyone on Macs.

Infinity Ward need to fix their Launching events. Activision went all out last year on the launching for Black Ops renting out the old Battersea Power Station with live streaming, celebs and a tonne of activities. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the soldier actors outside game with their fake plastic guns.

Call of Duty MW3 lauch at Game, Oxford Street 8/11/2011 0.00

After Game I queued at HMV as it was a healthier length on a rainy day as today, and at the purchase you get offered a A2 double-sided poster: One side the mainstream posters on display and the other side the original Call of Duty Elite logo with what looks like a Photoshop CS2 3D effect applied to it.

I know it sounds like I’m just ripping the whole thing to pieces but I am thrilled to have the game and can’t wait to log in. Also really enjoyed the soldiers and the free poster touch – really – it’s the least they could do for the sad people like me that will queue up in the rain at 00.00 Regardless if they wish to or not, there will always be a big turn out for anything that’s good and launches at a certain time.
